David Morley. DPF technology is fast becoming the bane of turbo-diesel owners. The filter is designed to trap some of the nasty exhaust emissions of a diesel engine and then automatically burn them off at high temperature periodically, emptying the filter in the process. But way too often, this isn’t happening according to the script and
There are additional DPF messages on some Mitsubishi's with the 4N1 engine but it seems these vary depending on the vehicle fitted. These include the DPF light plus "Check" or the message "Check DPF System". If the DPF light stays on you may need a service to have a stationary clean and your driving environment may be causing issues.

Level three: The warning light continues to flash, and the check engine light comes on. DPF regeneration should be done immediately. If action isn’t taken, engine power will de-rate at a level that varies by manufacturer. Level four: The DPF warning light flashes and the stop engine light comes on. This means the soot level in the DPF is full.

At the same time, keep an eye on the engines to keep them around 2600 RPM. That can raise the temp enough for filter generation – and, hopefully, will turn off the diesel particulate filter light! If you choose this solution, remember to stay far from the active regions in the city.

The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) removes the black soot from the exhaust. That soot builds up, and needs to be burnt off. Extra fuel is added to the exhaust to get the DPF hot, clearing it out. The diesel exhaust fluid (“cow piss”) is used in a different part of the exhaust system, the SCR.

Volkswagen tell us that “even when driving at slow engine speeds the ECU will try to regenerate the DPF to keep levels low. If the DPF warning light is illuminated the recommendation is to drive
As soon as safely possible, drive the vehicle at a high speed more than approximately 55 mph (89 km/hr) until the DPF Warning Lamp goes out. Always follow local regulations. When the accumulated particulate matter has been completely burned, the DPF Warning Lamp will go out. This procedure takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.
Thanks for the information, I understand the issue you're facing with your Mitsubishi Triton, as the car is flashing the service DPF system, FYI Shaun, as the light is flashing, which means there is an issue with the DPF system of the car, and most likely the issue is with the filter when the light flashes, qGLx.
