I am a total newb in the area of diesel emissions so I am not sure if the SCR was deleted along with the DPF or if it still exists. Either way, no DEF required. I believe the gauge should always read 1/2 with the GDE tune. Thanks! I can confirm that the DEF level shows half and has not moved a bit since the GDE tune.
Excessive exhaust smoke: If you’re leaving a trail of smoke behind you, it could be a sign that your DPF isn’t doing its job properly. When it’s clogged, the filter can’t burn off soot particles, resulting in more smoke from your exhaust. Strong diesel smell: A healthy DPF should keep that strong diesel smell at bay.
There are three components to the engine aftertreatment system: the diesel particulate filter (DPF), the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), and the selective catalytic reduction (SCR). The DPF has been the main focus of attention when problems come up, but it’s just as important to look at the DOC and SCR to make sure everything in the system
DPF problems are often expensive and require replacement. Leaking or plugged up DPF systems typically require you to purchase a new one. Unlike Semis and Big-Rigs where the DPF system is designed to be lowered and cleaned, these DPFs are not easy to clean. If your OEM DPF has failed, here are some replacement DPF systems for your 6.4L Powerstroke.
Manual cleaning involves physically removing the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) from your vehicle and following a step-by-step process to clean it. Begin by removing the filter from your car and testing it for any issues. Then, use compressed air to blow out the accumulated soot and ash particles from the filter. Urea can be irritating to eyes, skin and the respiratory tract but not life threatening. High concentrations in the blood can be damaging to humans however ingestion of low concentrations of urea ,given an adequate water ingestion of water, are not harmful. 2. a chemical clean process where the front sensor (just before DPF) is removed so that a pipe can be inserted, then the mechanic injects a foam chemical cocktail into the DPF which is blown through while the engine is running - After this is done the ECU is instructed to perform a DPF clean and you are then given the car back and advised to
