Get your hands on a shield. If you are a newcomer who wants to live longer in the game, a shield will do the trick. Tactician is only tough for the first 4 levels, at level 5, it gets a lot easier. Collect gnoll ears and make or buy speed pots. Sleep/command: grovel/hold person is my mvp for encounters. Gale and SH early on always use those to help support. Sacred Weapon is insanely good as it baits attacks and can tank for you.
